Variables and Risks affecting the Results in Rhinoplasty/1

    tasc

Skeletal (bone) structure of the face: The teeth together with upper and lower jaws, cheekbones, forehead, and bone structures around the eyes are adjacent to the nose and they are perceived as a single image as a whole. Even a very successful rhinoplasty can be perceived as curved/asymmetric if upper jawbone is pressed, single-sided and underdeveloped or if there is another jaw disorder.

Rhinoplasty operations are planned by holistic and joint evaluation of all bone structures of the face that have continuity relationship with the nose located at the center of the face. For these reasons, even if it is exciting for the patients, the use of 3D design programs that make post-operative planning  only for nose surgeries, for “convincing patients” is deficient/misleading. Besides, it is also considered as risky from legal perspective, as detailed below.

Sharing or giving images to the patients that mean “certainty and guarantee” belonging to the post-operative period, which are created by these programs makes the “practitioner” responsible for the certainty and guaranteed result (it will only be measured by liking or disliking of the patient) as these images will be considered as a document proving that the physician who performs the surgery has made a contract of work with his/her patient legally.
