Hair transplantation: The transplantation of the hair follicle unit to the bald area. The hair follicle unit is skin tissue and subcutaneous tissue which feed the hair follicle. The areas that the hair remains for life (not hair loss) are selected as source areas for the hair follicle units to be transplanted. The hair follicle unit which is extracted from source areas can maintain all the characteristics (growth) in the transplanted area. As all other surgical operations, hair transplantation which is a surgical operation, includes the pre-operative evaluation, preparation periods and post-operative recovery period.
