    What is Lip Aesthetics?

    Individual approaches, holistic solutions

The organ with the strongest complementary value in the facial image. The strong aesthetic unit with its size, thickness, shape, upper and lower ratio between each other, projection, contour, lines, teeth, cheek dimples.

An aesthetic framework/unit dominating words, emotions and expressions.

The lips are not just lips. Due to holistic perception principle, the lips have secondary affect/aftereffect that continue with the height, lines, grooves and angles to the nose and gonion.

    Normal Lip Anatomy

The passage of the lips with the skin (demarcation) should be apparent in the lower and upper lip, while the vertical cylinders (filter columns) descending parallel to the bottom from the nose base in the upper lip in the forefront, the most important area in the lower lip is 1/3 middle lip area. In this area, the lip may be symmetrical two-piece or one-piece. The tubercle in the upper lip middle line should be apparent and should divide upper lip into 2 symmetrical pieces. In the lower 1/3 facial area, the junction line of the nose base and the lower/upper lips is expected to coincide with the 1/3 ratio of the nasal base to the chin tip distance. Upper lip should occupy 40% of this area. The upper-lower lip ratio should be 2:3. Angeles between the chin, lip and nose from the profile should also be considered. Upper lips should be ahead of the lower lips with the distance of 1-2mm, while this distance is 3-4mm from the chin tip.

What are the conditions for lip aesthetics?

The upper barcode lines which are the most common old age symptoms in people who smoke excessively, can cause aesthetical concerns such as sagging folds, increase of the lines, deep grooves due to gravity, fat due to vector changes and additional aesthetic size losses caused by skin, congenital thin lips, and volumetric losses due to aging.

    Treatment Options?

Volume operations, asymmetry corrections, active and static muscle shaping with neurotoxin, superficial chemical peeling and skin rejuvenation with PRP, lips tightening and appearance with HIFU and contourplasty. The most ideal technique is to combine these options according to the patient expectations

    Things to consider

The most important thing to consider is that the practitioner/physician has deep anatomical, current procedure techniques, and avoid unsafe non-approved filling procedures and devices, health conscious, responsibility, and that you do not consult people who do not have qualification and experience, and that you do not look for cheap procedures, and that the procedures should not be performed in hairdresser, sport or beauty centers. If a filling material is used, this product should be approved and safe.

What is smart filling, light filling?

The permanence duration of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which is the content of filling materials used in the clinics is 6-12 months. In order to increase persistence/permanence, the derivatives of molecules in the laboratories are produced. Among the current innovations, the fillers which are described as smart fillers, and are non-palpable due to gelatinous structure, and are not observed easily, and are compatible with dynamic muscle movements, are spread in the market. Obviously, the smart one must be physician not the filler. Additionally to the volumetric HA, the light fillings consist of element, amino acids and vitamins which provide rejuvenation and fresh to the skin.

Filling procedures are no longer painless procedures due to local anesthetics. In order to shape lips, the fat tissues obtained from the patient is reliable, safe and volumetric technique, which requires to inject into the muscle by experienced physicians. The asymmetry and viability of the transferred cells are most important handicap of these procedures. The use of fillers in the gel silicone content is another procedure option which has been abandoned many years ago (since they have been displaced in tissues). The lip sensory disorders, asymmetries and results far away from natural appearance caused by solid silicone procedures are the factors that limit the procedures. The preference of unsafe, non-approved fantastic permanent thread procedures, and cheap water retainer filling materials is risky for your health. If you are lucky, you do not have any side effects and complications. However, this does not depend on, it is such a gambling.

    Aged/Elderly Lip

When talking, posing, laughing, your lips can make you look young or old. As well as hygiene, the alignment of your teeth, the appearance of your gums, the thickness of the lips, the skin quality of your lips and the proportional harmony with your face are carefully observed. The reduction of the lip volume, the flattening of the filter columns due to muscle loss, the appearance of gums when laughing, and the lengthening of the lip accompanying the deteriorating anatomical structure are inevitable signs of aging. What are the solutions options? The treatment consists of 3 steps. 1. Skin rejuvenation and lifting treatments. 2. Neurotoxin/filling procedures performed to the muscles and deep grooves. 3. Lip lifting and combined procedures of several options.

Contour: In the lip structure, we provide fillings to recover the decreasing contour problems and disharmony depending on the age. The fillings derived from Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid (HA) with an average durability of 6-12 months, are the most commonly used and safe filling materials. Oedema can occur up to 3 days after the procedure. Filter column, tubercle and lips are provided volume by performing intervention to the subdermal area from white roll with the needless in the 30 gauge thickness and in the length of 1.25 cm. Total 0.5-0.8 cc filling is preferred for upper lips.

Volume: Membrane (fascia, fat) obtained from the patient, HA derivative or non-HA fillings may be preferred. Considering the anatomy of the lip (single lobe / double lobe) in the lower lip, recovery time, costs, risks and permanence are evaluated separately.

    Lip Lift

It is the removal of a few millimeters of skin and muscle from the junction of the nose muscle. It is not performed to the people whose lip nose base distance < 18 mm and who have wound healing problems such as keloid. It has been reported that there is no significant surgical result with the skin extracted/removed less than 5-6 mm. Relapse rate is reported to be 10-30% in the first 3 months. Cheiloscopy: Lip print analysis and filling procedures

The lip print is personal and individual, just like fingerprints and palatal rugae. You can forecast that lip prints which are increasingly used for identification in forensic medicine do not change depending on the age but that these prints can be changed by filling procedures which can be temporary and permanent in the aesthetic sector. The lip print analysis is called Cheiloscopy. For analysis, the lips with dark coloured lipstick applied by a brush are printed with a cellophane film and lip (lipstick) prints/marks are taken and the individual prints obtained are evaluated under the lens. For evaluation, mapping the 1/3 middle lip and lower lip is sufficient for identification. For an indirect lip print, the lip print is obtained by pressing an adhesive glass test slide directly onto the lip area. It has been found that approximately 30% of the lip prints were in the form of vertical lines, 28% were multi-branched or branched, 6% mixed (vertical and branched), 24% reticulated and 12% were in vague form. In men, vertical and reticulated form is dominant, while in women multi-branched pattern is common. Studies show that lip prints do not change depending on the age but have geographical / ethnic characteristics. Have you thought about that lip fillings can cause identity change as much as image? Attention: You may carry your glass when you visit somewhere in the evenings in the near future?
