Pet Gynecomastia
It is the most common breast disorder with increasing degrees in men in the last 20 years. Gynecomastia is bilateral breast enlargement. Men also have breast cancer, the most common form of which is asymmetrical breast enlargement. Early diagnosis and appropriate treatment are vital and life-saving.
30% of men experience Gynecomastia at some point in their lives. Gynecomastia is an endocrine hormone (oestrogen / androgen imbalance) disorder. Breast fattening observed in obese men is called pseudo-gynecomastia. Enlargement in breast tissue is not observed in such people.
Excessive weright gain is among the common causes of pseudo-gynecomastia, other reasons are use of anabolic steroids in gym, and foods from the environment.
These toxic harmful chemical molecules that show oestrogen effects in the body are called xenoestrogens. Xeno means Greek foreigner.
These pseudo chemical oestrogen products (xenoestrogens) which are easily used in industry and plastic industry are polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) used in paint PVC coating and pesticides, Bisphenol-A (BPA) that hardens and clarifies the plastic water cooler bottle, and is used in feeding bottles, CDs and DVDs, and Phthalate used in order to extend the economic life of the plastic, increase its flexibility and clarify it.
Phthalates, which bind to receptors such as oestrogen when they enter the body, are used in catheter and blood transfusion sets used in all plastic medical devices and instruments to increase the durability of PVCs, which are mostly used in water drainage and pipes.
Phthalates are included in hair sprays, shower curtains, plastic food containers, glasses, toy paints, nail polishes, perfumes, liquid soaps. In 2013, the USA banned to import of products with this content, as all cheap plastic products and toys made in China contain high rate phthalates.
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is included in all plastic food storage containers and water and beverage bottles. We already known this as a pet bottle.
Phthalate is a chemical that have the effect of pseudo-oestrogen (xenoestrogens) when it enters the body, leading to endocrine or oncological problems.
Leading manufacturers claim that terephthalate in Pet bottles is different from phthalate, a toxic and harmful chemical. However, there are serious studies suggesting that phthalate in the content of plastic used in plastic water bottles and water cooler bottle is a chemical with toxic effects.

Have you ever thought that why Turkey is the Europe’s biggest plastics waste?
Why does the frequency of gynecomastia increase rapidly in the last 20 years (or parallel to the widespread use of pet bottles) all over the world and in our country?
Could pet bottled waters, cola and soft drinks, which we usually use/drink, cause this?
To me, yes, they can cause until proven otherwise. Please be careful about cheap, imported plastic products that make life easier by entering your daily life through bottles, water bottles, water cooler bottles and wall paints.
Until I bring the term PET Gynecomastia into the literature, I will continue to draw attention in this regard. Please stay away from durable, flexible and clear plastic bottles / glasses) / water cooler bottle / water dispenser / toy / cutlery / packaging and disposable products.
