False facts in the plastic surgery – IX

The higher the SPF value in the sunscreen creams, the greater the effectivity of the cream. FALSE

THE SPF value does not determine the effectivity of the cream, the cream is effective when it is used appropriately and frequently.

Multiplying the number on the SPF by 10 indicates the protection period/duration of the cream. For SPF 15, this period is 15×10=150 minutes, approximately 2.5 hours. Since the effectivity of the cream is determined by appropriate or frequent use, the protection of the cream with SPF 15 value is not less than the cream with SPF 90 value.

In fact, 90 is greater than 15, however, when it comes to protection sun light, the effectivity is related to whether the cream is wide-spectrum, the period of use frequently and the procedure/application time before going out. (sunny weather). Using/applying SPF>15 wide-spectrum cream appropriately is sufficient for effective protection.
