Russian Lip Technique

This term refers to a lip augmentation technique popular in Russia, aimed at creating a prominent “V” or heart shape in the central part of the upper lip, known as the Cupid’s bow.
In this procedure, hyaluronic acid is used as the filler material and multiple puncture techniques are preferred. The filler, in conjunction with the naturally small chin structure of Russian women, aids in making the lips much more prominent according to the principles of Gestalt perception.

With this technique, the lips gain both volume and contour, while a small amount of filler is extended slightly beyond the boundaries of the upper middle line to create a more attractive appearance. This distinctive feature, along with the multiple puncture technique, sets it apart from the traditional lip filler method that uses a cannula. Additionally, it can also be used to alleviate “Gummy Smile” issues in selected individuals.
