According to British National Health Service (NHS) data, labioplasty surgery for cosmetic purpose in young girls has increased 4 times in the last 10 years.

Experts need to reevaluate the information and surgical approaches in this regard. According to the evaluations, the most important reason for this increase is that adolescents are misinformed and have lack of information about their own genital anatomy. Experts in the ethics committee emphasize the importance of correct information about this subject and recommend that adolescents with such obsessions should undergo a psychiatric evaluation due to body dysmorphic disorder.
